When to choose it
Use the claw when you want to hold a narrow wool motif in position while leaving the work visible. The spring-wire end serves that purpose before and during felting. Follow the tool guidance when positioning the claw near the work.
The other end removes loose wool from the bristles of a Clover brush mat. That matters when switching from a dark fiber to a pale motif and you want to remove residue first. Compare hand carders if the job is blending a larger amount of loose fiber.
